Day 1 - August 26th 2019

Energize the Elements  

Are you worried about teaching the elements of Music?  In this session, simple, fun, active lessons for teaching the elements of music in Grades K-3 will be shared. 

Easy Lesson Plans for Elementary Music Class

Do you have to plan music classes for 7 grades?  Denise will share lesson plans and planning strategies that will make your job easier.

Cool Creations

Have fun with some easy ways to compose in your music classes.  We’ll use graphic notation cards/cubes, online tools, and simple templates and centers to get your kids creating their own rhythm and melodies! 

Dances and Singing Games Kids Love

Kids love to play singing games and folk dances are fun for all ages! We’re going to play games and share ways to use the games to teach concepts and skills. And we’ll do some very fun folk dances that you can use to teach phrasing and form in music, or use as part of your dance curriculum.

Day 2 - August 27th 2019

Rocking Music Reading

In this session, Denise will share lots of fun ways to get your students reading, writing and creating with rhythm and melody.  Assessment ideas and online tools will also be demonstrated.  Ideas for using recorders or ukuleles to teach music reading will be shared. 

Boomwhackers and Buckets of Fun!

How cool is it when you get to hit things in your music classes?!  This session will give you lots of ideas for using bucket drums and Boomwhackers in your classes, to sing, play, create, read/write, listen and move.

Seasonal Games and Composing

Have fun through the seasons, composing and creating music for each one. Denise is going to share songs, singing games, listening and movement ideas for the seasons, and we’ll compose/create in a variety of ways. 

Folk Dances and Singing Games are FUN!!!

Kids love to play singing games and folk dances are fun for all ages! We’re going to play games and share ways to use the games to teach concepts and skills. And we’ll do some very fun folk dances that you can use to teach phrasing and form in music, or use as part of your dance curriculum.


Teachers will receive a 1 month subscription to www.musicplayonline.com and a handouts booklet with extensive notes from their chosen sessions.

Cancellation Policy: Workshop fees will be refunded if notice of cancellation is given 7 days before the event. After that date, no refunds will be given although we will offer the participant the opportunity to take part in the workshop at a future date.
