Handel Alto Recorder (harder F)
The alto recorder is larger than the soprano recorder and has a lower sound. Because the space between the tone holes is larger, the alto recorder is easier to play by adults. The fingering system used by the alto recorder is the Baroque system. Play our new SATB ensembles on a full recorder consort! Handel bass, tenor and alto recorders are easy to play, nicely in tune and have great sound.
Flute, clarinet, and saxophone all use the same “easy F” fingering as the German recorder. More difficult instruments such as oboe and bassoon, use the “harder F” fingering that is used on the Baroque recorder. How can you tell which recorder you have?
